What is PRP therapy? (30-second summary)

PRP therapy extracts platelets — packed with natural growth factors — from your own blood and injects them into your skin. It stimulates collagen production to improve wrinkles, fine lines, under-eye circles, sagging, and overall skin quality from within. Unlike hyaluronic-acid fillers, PRP works through your own cells, so the change is gradual and natural — no one will guess you had anything done. Ueno Clinic uses pure 100% PRP with zero additives, injected across the entire face at one flat price.

CHECK

Concerns that PRP therapy addresses

  • Wrinkles and fine lines (around the eyes, forehead, mouth)
  • Sagging and deepening nasolabial folds
  • Dark circles and crepey skin under the eyes
  • Loss of firmness and elasticity
  • Wanting an overall lift in skin quality
  • Hesitant about hyaluronic acid or other foreign substances
  • Wanting to look younger naturally — without anyone noticing
  • Wanting results that last, not endless touch-ups

So that when you catch your reflection,
you still love the face looking back.

Our answer is PRP therapy — skin grown by your own blood.

PHILOSOPHY

Why we insist on “pure PRP”

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) prepared from the patient's own blood, and a woman with firm skin. Ueno Clinic uses pure 100% additive-free PRP to improve skin from within.
PURE 100% PRP

Ueno Clinic’s PRP therapy uses only the platelets extracted from your own blood. Growth-factor drugs and other additives are never used.

Why are we so strict about this? Because we care less about a quick result than about how your skin looks ten years from now.

Some clinics add bFGF (basic fibroblast growth factor) or similar agents to boost the effect. However, it has been reported that additive-based methods may, in rare cases, cause lumps and other complications.

Because our PRP uses your blood and nothing else, those additive-related risks are avoided. The change is gradual — but genuine. Your own cells do the work, restoring your skin from within.

MECHANISM

How PRP therapy works

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a concentrate of the platelets in your blood. Platelets are rich in growth factors — the molecules your body uses to repair and regenerate damaged tissue.

PRP therapy applies this natural healing power to the skin. The injected growth factors activate fibroblasts, boosting production of collagen and elastin. Because regeneration unfolds gradually over 3–6 months, the change looks natural — friends may notice you look great without ever guessing why.

How PRP is prepared — 1. Blood draw (a small amount of your own blood), 2. Centrifugation, 3. Extraction of the platelet-rich layer, 4. Injection into areas of concern. Growth factors repair and regenerate tissue, activate fibroblasts, and stimulate collagen and elastin production.

Key growth factors in platelets

PDGFPlatelet-derived growth factor

Promotes cell proliferation, recruits fibroblasts, and stimulates new blood-vessel growth for better circulation.

TGF-βTransforming growth factor

Drives production of collagen and connective tissue, supporting firmness and elasticity.

VEGFVascular endothelial growth factor

Builds new blood vessels and improves circulation, delivering nutrients throughout the skin.

IGF / EGFInsulin-like & epidermal growth factors

Support tissue repair and cell renewal, helping your skin regenerate itself.

INJECTION AREA

Where we inject PRP

Rather than treating a single spot, we inject PRP across your entire face, tailored to your concerns — treating skin as a surface, not a point, for an overall improvement in quality.

PRP injection map (forehead, upper and lower eyelids, cheeks, nasolabial folds, lips, chin)

No per-area charges. The whole face, one flat price. Injection sites and amounts are decided together with you during your consultation.

PRP is regenerative medicine that rewards continuity — some patients see change after one session, but depending on your concerns we may recommend a course of several. Because results last for years, we focus on long-term satisfaction rather than repeated quick fixes.
*For patients aged 60 and over, we recommend 3 or more sessions. All prices include tax.
Hyaluronic-acid fillers typically need repeating every 6–12 months. PRP grows your own cells, so the effect lasts for years. Think in cost per year, not cost per session — and it’s a more reasonable choice than it first appears. For visitors to Japan, one treatment during your trip brings home results that keep developing.

The moment you start noticing — that’s the moment to start.

PRP relies on the power of your own platelets. Because your cells’ regenerative capacity gradually declines with age, the time you’re most likely to feel the difference is now — when you’ve just started to notice.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is PRP therapy?
A regenerative treatment that extracts platelets (rich in growth factors) from your own blood and injects them into the skin, stimulating collagen production to improve wrinkles, dark circles, sagging, and skin quality from within. Your own cells drive a slow, natural change.
I don’t speak Japanese. Can I still visit?
Yes. Inquiries and bookings via LINE or email (uenoiin.miwa.biyou@gmail.com) are available in English, Japanese, and Chinese. English-speaking staff are available at the clinic. Please note the phone line (026-235-3514) is Japanese only — LINE or email is recommended.
I’m traveling in Japan on a tight schedule. Can it be done in one day?
Yes. Consultation, blood draw, and injection take about 30–60 minutes in total, and makeup is fine about 10 minutes after — you can continue sightseeing the same day. We’re a 6-minute walk from Zenkojishita Station, easy to combine with a Zenkoji Temple visit.
How do I get there from Tokyo?
Take the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Nagano Station (about 1.5 hours), then either the Nagano Electric Railway to Zenkojishita Station (about 5 minutes) plus a 6-minute walk, or a 10-minute taxi ride. A comfortable day trip.
When will I see results?
Most patients begin noticing changes in skin quality 2–4 weeks after treatment, with full results developing over 3–6 months. If you’re visiting Japan, the improvement continues well after you return home. Results vary between individuals.
How long do results last?
Unlike fillers, PRP regenerates your own cells, so results last for years (individual variation applies). Repeat sessions help maintain a stable, lasting result.
Is there downtime?
Needle marks can be covered with makeup about 10 minutes after treatment. Redness and swelling settle within 2–3 days; any bruising fades within 5–7 days. Daily life and sightseeing are largely unaffected. On the day of treatment, please avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise, and long hot baths or onsen — your doctor will give you specific guidance.
Does it hurt? Is anesthesia available?
You may feel small pricks during injection. Numbing cream is available on request to minimize discomfort — just let us know.
What about allergies?
We use only platelets extracted from your own blood, with zero additives, so the risk of drug allergy is minimal. Depending on your condition, temporary redness, swelling, or bruising may still occur.
How is this different from PRP at other clinics?
Some clinics add growth-factor agents such as bFGF to enhance the effect, but it has been reported that additive-based methods may rarely cause lumps and other issues. Our PRP is pure — your blood only — avoiding those additive-related risks. Our work has been presented at ISAPS.
Are there per-area charges? What’s included?
No per-area charges. The flat price (¥203,500 first session / ¥150,000 thereafter, tax incl.) covers the full face and includes consultation, blood draw, PRP preparation, numbing cream, aftercare, and a follow-up visit. Nothing beyond the listed price.
How can I pay?
Japanese yen (cash) and major credit cards are accepted. Feel free to confirm details when you contact us.
Can I come just for a consultation? Will I be pressured?
Of course. LINE and email consultations are free; an in-person consultation costs only the ¥3,300 initial fee (tax incl.), with no obligation to proceed. We never pressure-sell.
How many sessions will I need?
Some patients feel a change after one session, but we generally recommend a course of several depending on your concerns — three or more for patients aged 60+. We’ll advise you at your consultation. Many international patients continue on their next visit to Japan.
Who cannot receive PRP?
PRP is not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a malignant tumor, blood-clotting disorder, or active infection. The doctor will confirm at your consultation.
What if I have questions after returning home?
Contact us anytime on LINE or by email (uenoiin.miwa.biyou@gmail.com) — we’ll respond and follow up with care.
